heading: The hand in palmistry

A palmists looks at the entire hand, not just the lines. Begin by looking at various qualities of the hand itself: the shapes of the hand, number and definition of the lines on the palm and fingers, the color and texture of the skin, the fingernails, the length and shape of the fingers, the prominence of the knuckles, the fullness of the mounts and any distinctive character of the hand that seems to stand out.

The Dominate and Passive hand.

Decide which of you client’s hands in dominate and which is passive. If a person is Right-handed, their right hand is usually the dominate hand. Like wise a left-handed person’s dominate hand is their left. If a person feels they are amidextice*, the dominate hand is the stronger hand. The one they write with, eat with and throw a ball with. While most of your reading will concentrate on the dominate hand, most palmistry agree that both hands must be together to get a complete picture. There are many interpretations regarding the dominate and passive hands. However in this tutorial we will look at the hands in this way "The left hand is what we are born with, and the right is what we have made of it."

  • The Passive hand shows a person’s potential; their destiny. It reflects the inner person, a person’s true natural. The left hand is considered the "yin" aspect of the personality (feminine and receptive).
  • The Dominate hand shows how circumstance have shaped a person; where they are currently in their life (in regards to their overall destiny.) It reflects a persona) outer person, the person they choose to show the world. The left hand is considered the "yang" aspect of personality (male and outgoing).

Hand Shape

There are two common ways Palmistry categorize the shape of the hand. One method uses 4 categories corresponding to the four Classical elements (earth, fire, water, air). The second method uses 7 categories bases on the relative shape and size of the hand.
